About The School

If you want to see a video of our school then please click on the following link or cut and paste it into your browser

The Dance School was established by Lucy Heafield in 1989. From the outset, the reputation of the School has been built on high quality teaching, to enable all dancers to reach their full potential. Unlike other Schools the focus is on continual improvement in ability and technique. Each class is focussed on learning the appropriate dancing and gymnastics skills to be able to take and pass professional examinations with the International Dance Teachers Association (I.D.T.A) or Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.).  The School is proud of its 100% pass rate for all students that have taken exams.

The School has over 160 students ranging from 2 ½ years to adults. All classes are led by appropriately qualified teachers and as important, by teachers who firmly believe that classes should be fun as well.

Every Monday & Thursday

Every Saturday

Private lessons can also be provided on other days if requested.

About The Principal

Lucy Heafield is a Fellow Member of the International Dance Teachers Association (F.I.D.T.A) and qualified examiner. Teaching solely now at her own School, Lucy has also taught at the Midland Academy of Dance and Drama (M.A.D.D.) as well at Schools in the local area. In addition, as an accredited examiner Lucy visits other Dance Schools across the United Kingdom to assess the performance of students taking dance exams as well as adjudicating at regional Dance Festivals.  This ensures that the most upto date and highest standards of dance are provided at her own school.

Classes are held in Moira, which is just 2 miles from the town of Ashby De La Zouch (Monday & Thursday) and at Overseal which is a similar distance to the town of Swadlincote (Saturday).

Both offer free parking on site and waiting areas.

Uniform is available from Pupil Schoolwear in Swadlincote or the internet. Appropriate uniform should be worn in class and is mandatory when students take exams. Please ask if you need any information.

Child Security

The School recognizes the importance of child security and welfare. To reassure parents, Lucy is registered with the Disclosure and Barring Scheme and holds the enhanced Disclosure certificate that enables her to work with children and vulnerable adults.
